How To Deal With School Work Pre and Post-IC
IC is the most exciting convention of the year, although it comes with missing some school. School work and IC can be stressful to balance, but these tips will help you stay on top of it, and avoid the extra stress.
Ask Teachers for Work Ahead of Time
This may seem simple, but it’s an easy one to forget. Asking your teachers for homework and notes you will be missing while you’re at IC helps to ensure you know what you missed and know what work you need to turn in.
Write Down What You Need to Get Done
Whether it’s a planner, your notes app, or a calendar it’s imperative to write down what you need to get done to avoid forgetting. If you decide to do work after IC, you run the risk of forgetting what homework you need to finish and this is an easy and simple way to avoid that.
Do Homework During Your Spare Traveling Time
If you get anxious with having fun while your homework isn’t done like me, you can always bring your work with you. Don’t necessarily do it at the IC hotel, but it’s something to do during those long waits in the airport. This also relieves the stress of unfinished school work and allows you to fully enjoy the IC experience.
Post-IC: Rest Up and Don’t Procrastinate
After IC, you are going to be super exhausted and not have much energy to complete school work. I suggest taking a power nap, resting, and then completing your work as soon as possible. If that doesn't work, there’s always the option of getting a coffee or energy drink to keep you awake and focused while you complete your work.
Have Fun and Don't Stress Yourself Out!
This is the most important tip: It will all work out and get done eventually, there's no need to stress too much about it, just have fun!
These five tips should provide you with ways to help relieve some of the stress that comes with completing and making up school work missed while being at IC. Happy IC and good luck with school work!
