I, like many others this weekend, have been struggling with finding a way to process this attack. I have many connections to Israel and many people I am worried about. But, I have decided that the best thing I can do is to educate myself, educate others, and send as much aid as possible. Here is a list of resources I have compiled to help all of you do the same if you wish to do so.

As you go through these resources, you must be aware of how much you are exposing yourself to. Most of this information is graphic and upsetting, and that will take a toll on anyone's mental health. So, as you keep yourselves informed, please be aware of how much information you are ingesting and take care of yourselves.

News Organizations for Live Updates:

Ynetnews and CNN are both providing live updates on the situation in Israel that you can read to stay updated. Additionally, this is direct information from the IDF on their efforts and what they are facing as well as stories from the front lines. Reuters is another news organization that has been posting many articles on the attack but not constant updates.

If you want to have information on your social media feeds for easy access to current events, AJC Global and Stand With Us are two reliable sources you can follow to stay updated. Additionally, the AJC website has further resources and mailing lists you can join. Jewish on Campus is another account that has been posting updates less frequently if you want to be up to date but not be faced with information constantly. Noa Tishby is a Former Special Envoy for Combating Antisemitism and Delegitimization of Israel who has also been posting information.

History of the Conflict:

These are some resources that speak on the history of Israel and the current conflict.

ADL, Israel and the Arab-Israeli Conflict, Modern Israeli History: A Timeline | My Jewish Learning

Podcasts:

People of the Pod | AJC

AJC’s People of the Pod is a podcast that is uploaded weekly on current events and global affairs. This is a good resource if you want to find more information on the history of the conflict and the context surrounding it.

Donations:

One way you can take action and help Israel from abroad is by donating any money you may have. I have listed a few organizations here that will help with supporting Israel through this conflict in different ways. I encourage you to look into them and send what you can.

  • BBYO New York has organized a gofundme to support United Hatzalah
  • Judge Saul Pinchick AZA has organized a fundraiser to help send funds to various places in Israel.
  • This is an emergency fund that helps to renovate bomb shelters and care for the elderly, new immigrants, and those with PTSD.
  • This is an organization that provides mental health support for Israelis impacted by all military conflicts.
  • This is an organization that is helping to send food and provisions to Israeli soldiers that you can donate to.

We cannot let the events of this weekend be forgotten. Please stay as informed as is good for you and keep Israel in your minds and prayers.
