I Lost an Election...Now What?
I’m sure most of us are familiar with election anxiety. It’s a weird feeling knowing that all of your friends will be deciding who they want to see lead.
Now, I’ve lost TONS of elections, in and outside of BBYO. Despite these losses, I’ve also won a lot of elections. Recently, I lost chapter N’siah and I was devastated. I had just finished serving as S’ganit and felt like I was ready to look at the chapter’s bigger picture. Despite all my tears, my friend reminded me just how much I love BBYO. She told me not to throw away all my passion just because I didn’t win an election. I wiped away my tears and stood up for the drop-down of chapter Morah. To my surprise, I got elected as Kochavim BBG #2513 31st Morah. Ironically I ran for this exact position a year ago and lost. I ended up becoming a chapter sunshine girl which helped me figure out my love for programming that led to me becoming S’ganit.
As cliche, as it sounds, everything does happen for a reason. I didn’t even realize that my N’siah speech was almost all about recruiting new members and educating them on BBYO. As I head into this term I’m honored to be able to welcome a new generation of BBG’s.
So with this election season coming to an end I want to leave you with one piece of advice. Trust the process of becoming a leader. You are allowed to feel hurt but don’t let your feelings stop you from remembering why you joined BBYO.

In the double portion of Behar-Bechukotai, God gave Moses commandments. Does BBYO fit into those commandments?
