There is nothing quite like BBYO Havdalah. The energy is electric, whether at a chapter event, summer program, or convention. This Saturday night, when over 3,000 teens gathered in one large room to welcome in the new week together, it was no different. We prayed together, sang together, and reflected together. We were united, standing strong together.

This entire weekend has been filled with speakers encouraging us to be loud and proud about our Judaism, and this Havdalah was a beautiful display of just that. Amidst the rising antisemitism in today’s world, this unity is more important than ever, a point that our International Shlichim, Leah Barash, and Josh Rajunov, focused on. They delivered a passionate speech urging us to honor and respect the past, specifically the horrors the Jewish people have faced, as well as urging us to make a change in the world going forward. It is essential that we uphold the Jewish value of tikkun olam and work to repair the world around us. It is time for us to turn the page and start the next chapter.

Havdalah is a truly magical moment. Getting to see so many people celebrating their Judaism together with this long-lasting tradition is a reminder of just how strong we are. We have survived and will continue to do so. Now, more than ever, it really is our time.
