So, What’s Your Top Choice?
The college admissions process can be stressful and making a list of your schools is challenging. If you’ve had the chance to tour any of your schools during the pandemic or before and just happened to fall in love with one of them, congratulations! As a person who has only been able to tour two schools, I don’t really know what to expect when I am in the commitment process to a school. A top choice school never really applied to me and it doesn’t apply to me now. My college admissions process has been less hectic in a way that I’ve already applied to all of my schools. It is a sigh of relief and I have a lot more relaxation time. Now, we are in the waiting process.
“What if I don’t get into any of my schools?” By all means, do not make this a concern. If you do happen to get rejected from your top choice, there are plenty of other opportunities. You will eventually end up at a school that you will enjoy and that will have opportunities knocking at your door.
When people have asked me what my top choice was and I told them I didn’t have one, they thought it was a much better situation to be in, and I must admit that I agree. A top choice does not make you cool or smarter in any way, nor do I think it’s fair. The college admissions process is simply a contest based on grades and test scores. Not having a top choice school shows that you can fit in just about anywhere. Not having a top choice and applying early action to most of my schools ultimately made my process go faster. Your test scores and grade ultimately do not matter. At the end of the day, it’s the final decision of what school you’re going to pay the enrollment deposit to that comes to the process of going to college.
