About Us

Northern Region East (NRE): DC Council is the largest council in the Movement, with more than 1,300 Jewish teens from Frederick County, Montgomery County, Howard County, and Washington, DC.

With 15 chapters, each with its own distinct personality, teens can choose the community that best fits them. Members participate in a wide range of experiences, from weekly chapter meetings and council events to basketball tournaments and regional conventions that bring together hundreds of teen leaders. These opportunities help teens build leadership skills, give back to their communities, and form meaningful connections with peers across the region.

Events are planned by teens, for teens, and programming ranges from social activities like ice skating and camping overnights to communal Shabbat celebrations and leadership trainings. A parent, advisor, or regional staff member is always on hand to ensure safety and health.

Through youth-led and staff-supported programs, DC Council empowers teens to grow as leaders, strengthen their Jewish identity, and make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
